LUKE Shearer could be the latest Alvechurch player to join Redditch United.

Alvechurch’s Southern League Premier neighbours have submitted seven days for the forward, who only joined the Lye Meadow outfit this season.

Shearer is just one of a number of options to replace Jamie Spencer, who joined Kidderminster Harriers.

Church boss Lee Adams said: “Redditch have put in seven days for Luke and he will talk to them near the end of the week.

“He’s got a lot of potential and I think he will eventually playing higher than Redditch.”

Adams has blamed the lack of goalkeeper continuity after Alvechurch were beaten 4-0 by Coventry Sphinx on Boxing Day.

Dave Edwards is still a week away from recovering from injury, so it is set to miss Saturday’s home clash against Westfields (3pm ko).

  •  Meanwhile, Studley will be aiming to bounce back from their 6-0 defeat to Bromsgrove Sporting on Boxing Day, when they entertain Cadbury Athletic on Saturday (3pm ko).

Manager Adrian Mander said: “We had not been able to train or play for a fortnight. But Bromsgrove are the best side in the league.”

Matt Poyner has re-joined, while Studley signed Hinckley’s Bekir Halil and are hoping to add winger James Tindall from the Leicestershire outfit as well.
