ALVECHURCH manager Lee Adams has urged his players to build on their improvement.

The Lye Meadow outfit made it back-to-back wins in the Midlands Football League Premier when they defeated Boldmere St Michaels 4-1 last Tuesday and edged out AFC Wulfrunians 1-0 on Saturday.

The six points cemented a top half of the table spot and saw Church bounce back from last week's 4-1 defeat to Quorn.

Adams said: "I have been saying to the players that ithas been fine margins for a while now and it's still the case.

"I thought we were unlucky against Quorn but we played well against Boldmere.

"We scored two goals and were then unlucky to see our keeper Keith Rostill sent off.

"Andy Nicol went into goal and he wasn't really troubled to be honest.

"We then followed that up with a hard fought win over AFC Wulfrunians.

"We had lost to them in the FA Cup before I joined so hopefully this result in an indicator of how we've improved.

"There's still a long way to go but hopefully we can build on these performances."

Goals for Michael McGrath, James Cosgrave, Luke Shearer and Joe Adams saw off Boldmere, while Rostill was shown a straight red card after a collision with Kieron Clarke.

Against AFC Wulfrunians, Gareth Evans headed home the winner in the 79th minute.

Meanwhile, Adams praised midfielder Cosgrave.

He said: "When I joined Alvechurch James was injured but I could see he's got ability.

"We told him to be patient and we played him at right back just to ease him back in but he was man of the match against AFC Wulfrunians and I am delighted for him.

"He's a nice lad and a hard worker and he's doing very well."

Alvechurch are at home to Brocton on tonight (7.45pm ko), and face Stourport Swifts away from home in the league on Saturday (3pm ko).
