IT MAY be one goalkeeper in and another out at Alvechurch.

Church boss Lee Adams has drafted in former Dunkirk and Bedworth shot-stopper Ashley Malhotra.

The timing couldn’t be better after Romulus put on a seven-day bid yesterday for custodian Stuart Parsons.

Malhotra was set to make his debut in last night’s league clash at Shepshed Dynamo.

Parsons was signed by Adams’ predecessor Ross Thorpe and has made 35 appearances for the Lye Meadow outfit.

“Ashley is someone we wanted to have a look at and hopefully he will do well,” said the manager.

“He’s a big guy at 6ft 4ins tall and and he only played against us recently.

“It’s a coincidence about Romulus coming in for Stuart and we’ll see what happens there.”

Alvechurch have also drafted in left-back Aaron Xavier from Pershore Town.

After Saturday’s Midlands Football League Premier clash against Coleshill Town was abandoned because of torrential rain, they now face a trip to second from basement side Tipton Town (3pm ko).

“The game was called off on Saturday morning and it was the right decision because it rained all day,” said Adams.

“If we had played it would have damaged the pitch so it was sensible to call if off.

“We’ve got a difficult game against Tipton, they may be bottom of the table but it won’t be easy.”
