REDDITCH United are ready for their FA Trophy shoot out against Trafford.

United head into Saturday’s home clash firing on all cylinders after they stretched their unbeaten run in the Southern League Premier to eight games with a 4-0 win over Frome.

This weekend, they focus on the Road to Wembley when the Manchester-based outfit visit the Valley Stadium.

While United are flying high in fourth place, their opponents sit in the bottom half of the Northern League Premier.

However, they boast a dangerman in 16-goal Shelton Payne.

But Trafford will also have to be wary of United’s in-form attackers, such as top scorer Ashley Sammons, Jamie Spencer and Jermaine Hylton.

Manager Liam McDonald said: “Trafford have obviously got a very dangerous player who scores most of their goals, but if they want get the ball down and play I am confident we are good enough defensively.”

On Saturday, goals for George Carline, Dior Angus – the winger’s first for the club – and Hylton and Sammons saw United put struggling Frome to the sword and rise up to fourth place.

Their good form was dented last night after going down 3-2 to Rugby in the League Cup on Tuesday night.

“The Frome performance was outstanding," added McDonald.

“The performance from front to back was excellent.

“We’ve had suspensions and injuries so are perhaps six points behind where I wanted us to be at this stage of the season.

“But we’ve set our target of what we would like to have achieved by the end of January.

“It’s a bit early to be talking about the play-offs at this stage of the season, if we reached them then it would be a tremendous achievement considering we can’t match the highest payers in the league. But if we work hard I cannot see why we can’t keep our unbeaten run going for longer.”
