SKITTLES: The final rounds of the Swan Studley Skittles League finished with Alcester Nomads player lan Cummings retaining the trophy he won last year.

Cummings got the better of Mark Ganderton, again producing good consistent leg scores and he finally totalled 36 to win comfortably which gave him a stand-out average of 38 pins per game throughout the competition and become the deserved 2014 champion.

It was the third time in nine years that he has won the title.

He had defeated Len Quartly, Andy Clewlow and Brenda Morris in the previous rounds to book his place in the final against Ganderton.

Ganderton had been in good form throughout the tournament, starting off with a close win over Dave Maule. He then defeated Chris Pritchard in the last eight.

In the semi-finals, Ganderton’s six pins looked to be too little against Rob Baker but eventually won a narrow match 33-31.
