REDDITCH United must continue a goal-den resurgence against Bideford in the Southern League Premier on Saturday, says manager Liam McDonald.

The Valley Stadium outfit put behind them a run of eight games in all competitions with just one win by scoring hammering home 16 goals in their last two matches.

They recorded their first win in the league since August 25 by routing Slough 7-1 on Saturday, before inflicting a 9-2 defeat on Division One South outfit Bishops Cleeve to progress in the Red Insure Cup.

Ten of those goals came with the return of a fully-fit Jermaine Hylton and Ashley Sammons, who had been serving a two-match ban.

After Bideford, United tackle Chippenham away next Tuesday (7.45pm ko) before testing games against Chesham United St Neots afterwards.

McDonald said: “The Bideford game is massive – if we can get good results in the next two matches then we can go into tough tests against Chesham and St Neots in good form.

“It’s been a tough few weeks and I’ve never had so many people out injured or suspended before.

“It meant we had to change a few things and give reserve team players a chance but I was in a position where the chairman backed me to do that.”

McDonald also drafted in creative midfielder Elias Katsoloudi, who had been playing at Banbury.

The London-based playmaker marked his return to the club with a goal against Slough.

“Elias adds something to the team which we perhaps don’t have,” commented the manager.

“He’s got pace and technique but he’s also very calm and adds some guile.

“With the likes of Jermaine and Ashley, with their pace and finishing, he will help provide the ammunition. “We produced a great team display but when Jermaine plays like that he’s the best player in the league.”
