EXHALL and Wixford defeated Astwood Bank in the final of the Cotswold Hills League Under-17s competition at Moreton-in-Marsh.

A fine all-round display with bat and ball ensured the young team ended the season with some silverware.

Exhall were put into bat but Henry Moberley (31) and Henry Walker (72) got among the runs as they made 169-3.

On a wicket which always had something in it for the bowlers, Bank looked to push the pace from the off, but it came at a cost as Tom Lay took two early wickets.

Astwood Bank were reeling at 39-4 after seven overs and the contest was as good as over just a couple of overs later when Mac Sainsbury-Plaice brilliantly landed a run out.

Moberley was also looking sharp, taking wickets and catches as Astwood’s batsmen struggled. Exhall’s opponents were reduced to 46-5 before eventually being dismissed for just 83 runs.
