LEE Adams admitted relief after watching Alvechurch record their first win under his tenure as manager.

A brace for Connor Deards, one for Luke Shearer and a own goal ensured the Lye Meadow outfit got the better of Brocton 4-1.

Adams has been in charge for a month but he missed good results against Westfields and Lye because of a pre-booked holiday.

Church then lost the next three matches but they returned to form and ended Brocton's own three match run.

"Everyone at the club, particularly the chairman, has been first class and I want to bring success to Alvechurch," said Adams.

"It's not something that can be done overnight but I feel the people here deserve some success.

"It was a relief to win to be honest because we'd lost the three previous games.

"We played some good football at times against a side who I don't think are one of the best, although they were unbeaten in three games.

"I am a bad loser, so I can't wait to the next game and it's nice to have the winning feeling again."

Alvechurch handed a debut to former Kidderminster Harriers midfielder Michael McGrath on Saturday.

They signed him after last Tuesday's defeat to Stourport, who McGrath started the campaign with.

The manager added: "We've made a good addition in Michael McGrath, who has very good pedigree and he did well on Saturday.

"I don't want to make too many changes but there will be one or two more to to bolster us.

"Chris Rabone has joined Wolverhampton Casuals, he goes with my blessing and I wish him all the best.

"Connor Deards is also happy at the club. I still think there's a lot more to come from him, even though he has scored eight goals this season.

Alvechurch now face second in the the table Long Eaton on Saturday (3pm ko).

Jesse Race is set to return after serving a one match ban but Jack Cresswell is a doubt after dislocating a finger and fracturing his arm.
