STUDLEY booked their place in the FA Vase Second Qualifying Round with a 3-1 win over Bilston Town.

Goals for Josh McKenzie, Darius Darkin and Sean Williams ensured the Bees now face Coventry Sphinx away on Saturday, October 4.

Victory over Bilston also earned the club a £600 cash boost.

Victory was even more impressive as manager Adrian Mander had only two players on the bench.

“To win your first two games at a club when the squad is still settling down is great and I thought we went forward really well,” said Mander.

“I was a little disappointed we conceded a goal because we had looked so comfortable but that’s be being critical.

“But the squad needs strengthening, we only had two kids on the bench and we’ve lost a lot of players.

“The problem I have is that Paul Smith was helping to pay the players before he joined Sporting and we can’t afford that now.

“Obviously, a few lads have joined Bromsgrove but others have just walked away but the club won’t be held to ransom.”

Mander is hoping to bolster his squad by drafting in several players.

They have put a seven-day bid for Feckenham defender Dave Edwards.

He was also delighted that Jack Wilson decided to stay at Studley after interest from Bromsgrove.

But Studley have seen Jack Wilcox go to Fairfield Villa and Ricardo Richards move to Highgate.

The Bees entertain Racing Club Warwick in the MFL Division One on Saturday (3pm ko).
