LEE Adams has said it will take time for him to re-shape Alvechurch's team.

The new boss was disappointed to see his side exit the FA Vase after Saturday's 4-2 defeat at Lichfield City.

Church had seen Chris Hughes and Jack Cresswell score as they battled back from 2-2 to level the scores.

But an extra-time penalty and a late strike by Lichfield, who played a level below in Midlands Division One, knocked Alvechurch out of the competition.

After watching the defear, Adams admits he is ready to rebuild the squad.

He said: "It was a disappointing display and we didn't deserve anything from the game to be honest.

"We played poorly but got ourselves back into the game and Ben Markall and Naveed Arshard had chances to win.

"I was disappointed we had a penalty given against us, as I don't think it was a spot kick at all but we still didn't deserve to get anything from the game.

"Saying that, my captain Chris Hughes was carrying an injury after we had made all our changes, so we were effectively playing with ten men for quite a long period.

"This isn't my squad yet and it's going to take some time to improve it.

"I think improvement is needed in quite a few areas but players are hard to find at this stage of season.

"The squad is full of good young technical players with a lot of athleticism but you need experience as well."

Alvechurch have also drafted in wide attacker Edwin Ahenkorah from Redditch United and hope to have the former Rocester man at the club for an extended period.

Alvechurch have also received two seven day bids for from Stafford Rangers and Rushall Olympic for striker Connor Deards.

Adams said: "Edwin looked electric in training but struggled on Saturday but I am looking forward to playing with him.

"We've had two seven day bids for Connor so we'll see what happens."

Alvechurch are away at Shepshed Dynamo on Saturday (3pm ko) in the league.
