Coleshill Town 2, Bromsgrove Sporting 2

BROMSGROVE Sporting's hopes of progressing into the FA Cup first qualifying round were frustrated as they were pegged back by Coleshill on Saturday.

The Rouslers will now take Coleshill back to the Victoria Ground for a replay tomorrow night (7.45pm ko).

Twice Paul Smith's side had taken the lead in the second half only for Coleshill, who had hammered Nuneaton Griff 10-0 in the previous round, to hit back twice.

The hosts started the tie on the offensive from the outset and after winger Chris Lloyd had seen his fierce cross shot flash across the Bromsgrove goal and wide, Coleshill took the lead in the 11th minute when Shane Benjamin flashed a shot past keeper Jake Bedford.

Sporting survived the pressure and gradually got back into the game and forced three corners in succession half way through the half and Craig Jones headed over.

Jones flashed an effort wide for Coleshill but Bromsgrove made it 1-1 when Gary Hay headed powerfully into the net from a Simon Fitter cross.

Sporting substitute Daniel Morris came close to scoring early in the second half, but Danny Ludlow made it 2-1 when slotted into the far corner from a corner.

They nearly made it 3-1 but Ryan Mahon's effort was saved by Coleshill keeper.

An ambitious effort from Fitter nearly caught Chris Jay out but he recovered to make a fine fingertip save and from the corner, Reece Hewitt blasted over when well placed.

Bedford produced a fine save in the 72nd minute, denying Benjamin but the hosts made it 2-2 four minutes later when Dean Rathbone headed home.

Sporting sent on Jozsef Jakab and Dave Almond in an effort to win the game and the former saw an effort fly over the bar.
