COOKHILL edged out local rivals Great Alne by one wicket in the Cotswold Hills League Division Four on Saturday.
After winning the toss and deciding to bowl first, Cookhill soon began to regret the decision with the Great Alne openers putting on 128 for the first wicket.
Cookhill then turned to the spin of Neil shuttleworth who soon changed the game in favour of the home side by taking three quick wickets, with some good support from Rich Lewis and Alan Smith as Great Alne collapsed to 174 all out.
Cookhill’s openers then set about chasing the runs, putting on 80 runs for the first wicket, with Lewis (49) and Roger Smith (34) doing well.
They then lost a flurry of wickets until Andy Fennell hit a quick fire 20 and the ever reliable Jordan Hobbis (41) settled the nerves, before Cookhill skipper Liam Donhoe arrived at the crease to hit the winning runs.
