ALVECHURCH boss Ross Thorpe is undeterred after they were handed two away games at the start of the Midland Football League Premier.

The Lye Meadow outfit will commence their campaign at Heath Hayes on Saturday, August 2 (3pm ko).

Church then travel to Boldmere St Michaels on August 5 (7.30pm ko).

They kick-off their home campaign in the league with a clash against highly-rated Walsall Wood on August 9, followed by Kirby Muxloe and Rocester at their home base in the league.

Thorpe said: "The staff at the club have been working very hard to make sure the pitch is in good shape and now because of the fixtures it's actually got an extra week's grace.

"But I am not concerned about our first two games away, there are no easy games in the league and we will be focusing on Heath Hayes.

"Preparations are going well with really good numbers in pre-season."

Alvechurch's pre-season clash against Bolehall Swifts was cut short after 55 minutes when the refereed abandoned the game because of lightening.

Danny Williams had scored for Church, who at the time had been trailing 2-1.

Alvechurch played Cradley Town last night and complete their friendly programme at home to Thorpe's former club Alvechurch on Saturday (3pm ko).
