BOWLS: Alcester suffered a 13 shot defeat to Colebrook in the Northfield League Division Two.

They earned just a couple of league points against Colebrook’s 9.

Alcester’s winners were at least convincing ones, with Jean Bannister recording a 21-8 win and John Alderson close behind with a 21-10 success.

In the Yardley Wood league, both Alcester teams recorded wins.

The A side in Division Two entertained Grasshopper and produced a good 22 shot victory, with five winners, to collect seven league points against the visitors’ three.

Winners for Alcester were Dave Hovell (21-10), Jean Bannister (21-12), Ken Craddock (21-14), John Slater (21-16) and Bob Le Resche (21-19).

The win keeps Alcester very much in the promotion hunt a single point behind the promotion places.

In Division Four of the Yardley Wood league, Alcester’s B team travelled to King George VI to play their B side, coming away with an excellent 11 shot success to gain eight league points against the home team’s three.

Alcester’s winners were Val McDermott (21-7), Jean Craddock (21-12), Trish Barry (21-15), David Hodgson (21-16) and Margaret D’Elia (21-17).
