BROMSGROVE and Redditch AC saw their young guns perform well by taking second place in the YDL Young Athletes Track and Field League meeting in Worcester.

The team finished just behind winners Swindon, and 30 points ahead of the hosts.

In the U13 girls, Beth Lloyd excelled to win the 800m in two minutes and 32.9 seconds, javelin (32.07m) and second in 70m hurdles (12.4s).

Lauren Vale ran well for third in the 75m (11s), second in the 150m (22s).

Robyn Yeomans sealed second places in the 75m (11.4s), 150m (22.9s) and first in the shot (6.68m).

Katie Mellors was runner-up in the 800m (2-55.6) and won the shot (4.41m).

Lewis Byng was also outstanding for the boys in the under-13s and he was victorious in the javelin with a throw of 31.61m, shot putt with a personal best of 8.40m and high jump (1.23m).

Isaac Medley won the javelin in 19.95m and runner-up in the long jump (3.14m), while Will Thorley gained finished first in the long jump (3.67m) and second in 100m (14s) and 200m (29.1s).

Matt Green won the 100m (14.17s), while Josh Keyte (1st 800m 3.04-4, 2nd 200m 32.4s) also did well.

Liam Hallahan finished second in the 800m (2.38-05) and first in the shot putt with a personal best of 6.13m.

There was a win for Jack Johnston in the high jump (1.10m), David Peaty came third in the 1500m 6.05.3. First in the 4x100m, Will, Matt, Jack and Lewis.

In the U15 girls, Amy Mijovic-Caudwell won the 800m (2.32-9), finished second in the 300m (48.8) and second in the javelin (16.85m).
