ALCESTER and Ragley recorded a fine 84 run win over Moreton-in-Marsh in the Cotswold Hills League Division One on Saturday.

After losing the toss, Alcester were asked to bat first but set about recording a handy 166-5 on a damp wicket.

Openers Marc Woolley and Ben Lee set the tone after a cautious start with a partnership of 85, before the former was dismissed on 31 runs.

Lee went onto make 58 runs in the 32nd over, before Lewis Clark (22) and Michael Combs (16) added more.

Alcester’s bowlers set about their task with gusto as Moreton collapsed to 59-5 It took another19 overs to claim the final five wickets for the addition of only 23 runs.

Sam Westwood claimed three good catches to go with his four wickets to cap a successful day in the field. Alcester entertain Rowington on Saturday (1.30pm).

l In Division Four, Cookhill defeated Henley by 163 runs. Cookhill made 241-8 with Jay O'Donnell hitting 62 not out. Alan Smith bagged a five wicket haul as Henley were dismissed for 78.
