ALCESTER’s crown green bowler recorded their biggest victory in recent years when their Heart of England Division Two side entertained Austin British Legion B last week.

They romped to an impressive 78-shot victory.

All eight of the home side’s players chalked up wins, Ken Harvey and Dave Hovell leading the way with superb 21-3 and 21-6 wins respectively.

Excellent support came from Bob Le Resche and Carole Slater (both 21-10), John Alderson, John Slater and Renny Bannister (all 21-15), and Jean Bannister (21-16).

Alcester earned the maximum 18 points, with the visitors not able to gain a single point.

In Northfield Division Two, Alcester visited Warstock, where they went down to a heavy 42-shot defeat.

Harvey was again in fine form with a 21-7 win, but only Alderson (21-15) was able to add a further league point, leaving Warstock with a total of eight against the two of the visitors.

Six winners contributed to the Alcester A’s 18 shot victory at home to Yardley Wood Social in Division Two of the Yardley Wood League.

These were Trish Barry with an excellent 21-8 success, Dave Hovell (21-13), Carole Slater (21-14), John Slater (21-16), Le Resche (21-17) and Renny Bannister (21-20), giving Alcester eight league points, against the two of the visitors.

Division Four of the same league saw Alcester B visit Kings Norton Ex Service and go down by 31 shots.
