ALCESTER started the Wildmoor Spa South Warwickshire Tennis League with a 2-2 draw against Claverdon.
First pair Tim Kenneally and Stuart Beach won their team’s two rubbers beating James Courier and Pete Thomas in a very tight match 6-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-7) after a Championship Tie-Break and then defeated Richard Butler and Andy Ashley 6-3, 7-5.
The second pair Peter Bostock and Sam Hawker went down to Butler and Ashley 6-1,6-1 and then lost to Courier and Thomas 6-2, 6-2.
In Division One, Studley A are top the table after an opening 4-0 win away to Pershore only dropping one set on the road.
Studley C enjoyed a 4-0 victory away to Chipping Campden C in Division Three.
In Division Five Inkberrow C, who defeated their D team, are currently second.
HDA B Redditch rose to third after beating Moreton-in-Marsh B 3-1.
