REDDITCH rider Trystan Finocchiaro has made an encouraging start to the Aprilia Superteen Challenge 2014.

The teenager is currently ranked sixth after meetings at Brands Hatch and Donnington Park.

This year’s Challenge is one of the toughest yet, with the top ten riders considered to be one of the strongest in a decade.

At Donnington, the gifted speed demon qualified in fifth place, recovering from a spectacular shunt on the notorious Melbourne Loop.

After finishing seventh in race one and not able to take part in race two, Finocchiaro produced a spectacular final two-lap burst to snatch fourth place in one of the televised races in the Sunday programme.

He then ended the weekend with another seventh place in race number four.

To ensure the young rider’s continued rise in the sport his management team has secured the services of star rider Connor Behan, 22, to mentor him.

The Northwich rider has won a number of races in the Superteen Challenge and currently is part of the KMR Kawasaki road racing team.

Those wishing to support Finocchiaro, who is sponsored by Transmec Group, Automatic doors , Lingerie 24-7 and Psyben Ltd, can join the Facebook group Club#58.

He returns to action at Snetterton this weekend.
