SHEILA Harris starred for Wythall-based Redhill Archers at the Worcestershire County Team Trials.

The club had 19 members who qualified for the tournament, with 13 competing at theWyre Forest archery ground.

Harris led the way for Redhill as she won the Ladies Compound section.

Keren Colling and Charlie Medhurst, both junior novices, qualified in 2013 and both shot personal bests for the metric rounds and held their own against very experienced youngsters.

The club’s Roger Smith and Betsy Johnson both shot in the recurve bow category and finished third in their divisions with Neill Garratt joining them.

These four will go forward to the County matches at the end of the April, while Fran Hardisty gets her place in the Longbow section.

The quartet had all shot really well despite the fact that many of them had spent all the day before, clearing and demolishing their club hut on Wythall Park in preparation for the new clubhouse and indoor range.

Redhill have been awarded £50,000 from Sport England Inspired Facilities scheme.

The club is now working hard to raise the £25,000 needed. Anyone interested in sponsoring or donating money to the club can call Dave Harris 0121 4586778.
