NORTH East Worcestershire Ravens are appealing for people try out Rugby League.

The sport which boasts the Super League as its top flight competition and has a governing body which markets itself as “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen” is the home to many amazing athletes.

NEW Ravens want to use this message to try and encourage people who have never played rugby before to come and give League a go.

Club Secretary Nigel Warburton stated “We have local lads who have started playing RL with no background in Rugby at all and who have gone on to International honors. The best example of this is Solihull born Richard Whitehouse who as a semi-pro footballer and enthusiastic Wigan RL fan turned up at a Worcestershire based RL club to see if he could play and in less than a year was playing for the England Lion Hearts (Amateur England RL).

"Two years after that he was playing for Amateur Great Britain RL 7s team in Moscow. We are lucky to have such a great local talent as Whitehouse playing with Ravens again this season and we want to find some new emerging superstars to follow in his footsteps.”

The main message the NEW Ravens want to get out is that Rugby League is here for anyone to have a go. Senior and Under 16s training is at Hopwood Park, (Kings Norton RFC) every Wednesday from 7pm. Junior training will start on Sunday 11th May (10.30am) and regular Touch League session will to be confirmed shortly.
