REDDITCH CC will be hoping South African all rounder Francois Mostert can make an impact.

The 23-year-old is the Kingfishers' overseas player for the 2014 season.

He has played for Natal Premier League Division One side Dawn Heights and is a left-arm middle order batsman and right arm off spinner.

The club are hoping he could have the same influence as Henry Jean Louis-Moorcroft, who played an influential role in Redditch's impressive 2013 campaign in the Worcestershire Division One.

Moorcroft was the club's leading run scorer with 1631 in all competitions, averaging 56.24.

He was also second in the bowling statistics, behind skipper Perry Derrick.

The captain wants the Kingfishers to push improve on last season but feels that Bromyard are the favourites to win the title this year.

He said: "I think Bromyard are very strong and look favourites for the title.

"That's not to say we're not in with a chance but they are favourites.

"But I want us to build on last year and go for a top three finish.

"It has been an interesting winter with lots of players moving to different clubs.

"We've had stability and the team is settled, so I think that will work in our favour."

Redditch, who played Didsbury in twice in a pre-season double header over the weekend, play Stratford away as part of their preparations on Saturday.

They begin the league at home to Evesham on April 26 (1pm start).
