TOM Gretton's stable star Little Jimmy bagged another success for the Inkberrow trainer last weekend.

The seven-year-old brown gelding battled hard to earn a well-deserved victory at Stratford racecourse on Saturday.

He finally got his head in front after previously filling the runner-up spot on his last three outings.

However, he was not to be denied on this occasion and showed his fighting spirit to see off a late challenge.

He had tracked the leaders under regular jockey Felix de Giles before hitting the front three from home in the 2m 4f handicap chase. He then held on as the line approached to win by a neck. The win is the horse's first since racking up a hat-trick of victories last season.

Gretton said: "It was great to win again with Little Jimmy and even better to do it at a local track. He has been knocking on the door in recent races and was unfortunate to find one too good after travelling to Newcastle in his previous start. This win makes up for that."

An ownership syndicate is now being formed for Little Jimmy. Anyone interested in being part of it can email tomgretton@hotmail.co.uk
