First published in Sport

GOLF: Matthew Bailey won the Graham Birchall Shield at Kings Norton GC with a score of 38 points.

Runner-up was Brian Evans with 34 points.

David Arch was first in the nine-hole stableford with 18 points on countback, with Roger Martin (18 points) in second.

There were congratulations to the club’s junior team who won their first match away at Redditch last Sunday with a convincing 4-0 win.

Captained by Joseph Edwards, the team was Connor Thomas, Jake Bourne, Matt Osborn, James Yorke, Patrick Leydon, Harrison Hill and Tom Newton.

Norton’s team competing in The Mail on Sunday Classic unfortunately lost away to Harborne Church Farm in the second round at the second extra hole.

This was despite Tony Hill birdying the last hole to send the tie into sudden death.

New junior academy group coaching courses are starting on Saturday, April 12.

The eight-week courses are open to boys and girls, from beginners through to intermediate. For more information or to book a place, call 01564 822635.
