KINGS NORTON 28, UPTON UPON SEVERN 14

KINGS Norton kept their hopes of escaping relegation alive on Saturday with a much-needed bonus point victory in the Midlands Division Three West (South).

It took just four minutes for the home side to score their first try through centre Chris Minott, who finished off a good move which scrum half Shane Rees converted.

Louis Stelling collected a long pass and raced over for a try which Rees improved. Minott made good ground to score his second try, again converted, after more hard work by the pack.

Kings forwards led by captain Tom Kendrick had worked tirelessly to control the game but finally their dangerous visitors finally broke through the stout home defence to score an excellent converted effort.

In the second half, Norton started strongly and prop forward Chris Hands got himself onto the score sheet with a good forwards try, which was again converted by Rees.

Upton responded with their second touch down and searched for more points but a try saving tackle from Ryan Morey closed out the game.

Kings go to fourth from bottom Pershore on Saturday.
