ANDY Robinson says he is in ‘phenomenal’ shape ahead of the biggest fight of his professional career.

The super-middleweight takes on Doncaster’s Jason Ball at Birmingham’s Tower Ballrooms on Saturday, vying for the British Masters title.

The Redditch fighter earned a shot at his first professional title by winning all nine of his professional bouts.

But Saturday’s match-up is his toughest yet, fighting over ten rounds.

He faces a former cage fighter who has fought Chris Eubank Jr and picked up an eye-catching victory over Scottish champion Gary McCallum in the International Masters.

A veteran of 23 professional bouts, Ball is a tough and experienced campaigner and Robinson is expecting a challenge.

He will meet his opponent in the flesh for the first time at Friday’s weigh-in, where both fighters will get a chance to size up their opponent.

“I’ve been in hell for the last seven weeks in training and now I am angry.

“The worst thing is the waiting,” said Robinson.

“All my training is finished and it’s a matter of keeping yourself busy before the fight.

“It’s going to be a tough fight because Jason is a warrior.

He was in a similar situation in Glasgow and got a really good victory.

“But I am in phenomenal shape, the best I have ever been, and I am ready.”

The Birmingham-born fighter will be backed by his biggest crowd yet after selling his allocation of 180 tickets.

He added: “I am sold out, which is fantastic.

“I will have half of Redditch supporting me and I can’t thank people enough for their support. They have been brilliant.

“It will mean a lot to have so many people there supporting me.”

He has enjoyed unprecedented success since stepping up from the amateur ranks.

Nicknamed D’Animal, Robinson has swept aside all opponents.

If he records a career-best win, he’s planning to celebrate by getting his decks out.

“I used to DJ drum and bass around Queensgate and was known as DJ Polish because I polished the decks.

“I still have my decks at home and play them – but not in public. I’m too old for that now! But it’s still a good way to relax after a fight.”

Robinson’s fight tops a bill which also contains Dudley’s Ryan Aston.
