REDDITCH recorded their second win in a row in the West Midlands Division One as they out-gunned Kingswinford 5-3 on Saturday.

Top-scorer Steve Cooke bagged a hat-trick, while Andy Robinson and Richard Sellers also scored in a thrilling encounter.

The Kingfishers were in control of the game but their Black Country rivals did give them a fright.

On two occasions, Kingswinford pulled back within one goal before Redditch finally killed them off.

Robinson had opened the scoring with a penalty flick, before Cooke doubled their lead.

But the away side pulled one back just before half-time, with Lubby Ram on target after good work by Billy Jawanda.

But Cooke bagged his second goal after the break with a penalty flick.

Once again Kingswinford hit back and captain Surjit Takhar hammered home a second goal.

Redditch thought they had made the game safe with a fourth goal but once again the away side hit back.

Raggi Singh then set up Takhar, whose cross allowed Gurmail Chana to tap home.

But the hosts finally made sure of the points with an eighth goal in a thrilling game.

Victory means Redditch are up to fourth in the table.

So far this season they have won six matches, drawn twice and lost five times.

They go to mid-table rivals Stafford, who are one place below and a single point behind, on Saturday.

Last weekend, Redditch had bounced back from defeat to Bloxwich to see off Old Wulfrunians 4-3. They were always ahead after forcing an own goal, before Lee Beedon (2) and Cooke scored to win the day.

Cooke is Redditch’s top-scorer with 11 goals.
