STUDLEY captain Sam Wills has been the butt of team-mates’ jokes after missing a gilt-edge chance in Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Alvis Sporting in the Midland Combination Premier.

Wills saw several chances to score go to waste but saved the worst until 15 minutes to go, when he rounded the keeper and missed the target.

Manager Paul Smith said: “Sam has been brilliant for me over the last few years but he’s a had a fair bit of ribbing from the lads. But he’s taken it all in his stride and I would back him to score the next time. Overall I thought we dominated the game.”

Studley will be hoping to pick up three points at mid-table Pelsall Villa on Saturday (3pm ko), before they go to local rivals Alvechurch in the Worcestershire Senior Urn on Tuesday (7.45pm ko).

“Overall I think there’s 11 members of the club who have been at Alvechurch so it will be a competitive game,” added Smith.
