Alcester crowned the new champs

BOWLS ALCESTER were crowned champions of Northfield Crown Green League Division Three after a narrow win over British Oak B.
They were victorious by just six shots earning eight points. Winners for the visitors were Mike Dempsey (21-100, Jean Bannister (21-11), Renny Bannister and Ken Harvey (21-14) and Dave Hovell (21-19).
They are the second Alcester team to gain promotion this year following the B team’s success in the Yardley Wood League.
In the Heart of England Over 60s league Alcester A lost out to relegation rivals Co-op, the deficit of 43 shots leaving them in grave danger of a drop back into Division two next season.
The B team in Division Six lost by 12 shots in their re-arranged fixture at Woodlands Park C.
They lost Margaret D’Elia before the start to the A team meaning they had to concede a 21-0 to their hosts and then saw Trish Barry and John Williamson lose my a single shot. They did though gain a couple of points via Chris Anderson (21-13) in her first game for the club and David Hodgson (21-14).
