Gold medal for Martin

MARTIN Aspley-Davis won gold at the British Masters Athletics Federation event at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.
He was part of a strong Bromsgrove and Redditch AC veterans team and clinched the over-35s 400-metre hurdles in 59.37 seconds as well as finishing fifth in the 400m finishing in 53.19.
Aspley-Davis said: “I could only manage fifth or sixth in the 400m but I am so happy with the first in the 400m hurdles, really pleased to finish the season on such a high.”
Polly Gerner came third in the over-55s long jump with a leap of 3.66m and third in the 100m in a time of 15.02s.
In the W50 category, Julie Wakelam was runner-up in the javelin with a throw of 22.81m, sixth in the long jump with 3.79m (both season’s bests) and sixth in the hammer with a personal best of 32.04m.
In the M40 category, Calvin Scoltock took seventh in the 800m with 2.11.20 and in the 75 800m David Carney finished second in 3.31.33.
Meanwhile, the club are holding their Waseley Wobbler on Sunday, an eight-and-a-half mile multi-terrain race which starts Waseley Hills High School at 11am.
