Adshead backing Bank to survive

CRICKET CAPTAIN Steve Adshead believes the Birmingham League holds no fear for newly promoted Astwood Bank.
His side march into Division Three in confident form after winning the Worcestershire Division One title in impressive fashion this summer.
Division Three is the most treacherous level of the regional competition with four relegation places.
This season, Astwood’s county rivals Worcester Nomads, who earned promotion last summer, and Evesham tumbled out of it.
But Adshead is sure Bank have the tools to survive.
He said: “Traditionally teams who win our league tend to do well in the Birmingham League Division Three.
“Nomads have been the exception but they’ve been forced to make some changes and were without their best player for several months.
“But if we can consistently play the same team which did so well this year I am sure we will be in the top half.”
Astwood ended the season with a 55 run win over Worcester Dominies.
The visitors side had made 156-9 in 32 overs, while Andrzej Jagielski took 5-28 as Dominies were dismissed for 101.
Adshead topped the league’s batting rankings with an average of 76.56 runs.
He scored 1,378 runs in 20 matches, top-scoring with a league record 259.
