Alcester are outscored by hosts in friendly
6:00pm Thursday 5th September 2013 in Sport
AN under strength Alcester side put in a decent performance in Saturday’s 47-10 friendly loss at Kenilworth seconds.
Still missing a nucleus of what will be their first team squad due to injury and unavailability, the young and inexperienced side acquitted themselves against a well drilled side from a club three divisions above Alcester in the league structure.
While Alcester competed well they were outscored by their hosts, with the visitors’ solitary try coming from Andy Conway.
Head coach Keith Beech was able to take plenty of positives in defeat and singled out the performances of James Whitehouse on his debut senior outing, Geriant Hill and man of the match George Green.
A sour note for Alcester came after an injury to wing Luke Spencer, who suffered broken bones in his back.
All at King’s Coughton wish Luke a speedy recovery.
This weekend the firsts visit Sixways to face Worcester Wanderers seconds while Alcester’s seconds play host to their counterparts from Evesham (both 3pm ko).
