Bees hopeful on key duo for FA Cup clash
10:14am Thursday 29th August 2013 in Sport
STUDLEY boss Paul Smith is hoping midfield pair James Turk and Jack Creswell will be back for Saturday’s FA Cup preliminary round clash at Atherstone.
Creswell missed Monday’s 1-1 draw at Pilkiington XXX in the West Midlands League Premier Division with a bruised foot, while Turk should be available after work commitments kept him out of the last few matches.
Studley face a tough test at Atherstone (3pm ko), who have started the league solidly with 11 points from their first three matches.
The winners will host Redditch in the first qualifying round.
He said: “It’s an absolutely huge game at Atherstone on Saturday.
“They’re probably slight favourites because of their history and being at home.
“With Redditch waiting for the winners this is a game we really want to win.”
Studley have plenty of momentum after the table-toppers picked up four more points over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Goals for Paul O’Brien and Sam Wills helped them shoot down Pershore Town 2-1 on Saturday.
But they were held in Birmingham by Pilkington.
Andy Nicol had fired them ahead from the spot after Connor Deards was barged over but the home side levelled in the second-half.
