Swimmers star in gala


REDDITCH Swimming Club competitors swam superbly in one of the last galas of the year.

In the one-length event Emma Hardacre received two speeding tickets and Cassandra Robinson, Clara Parker and Sophie Bridgman one each.

Gaining first places in the 11-and-under age group were Robinson (freestyle) Tyler Sherwood (breaststroke) and Dan Bridgman (butterfly) with Bethany Austin, Robinson, Hardacre and Sophie Bridgman taking first in the medley relay and second in the free. Second places went to Austin (back and free) and Mark Dear (free) who came in third in the backstroke with Jack Nash (back and breast) and Robinson (fly) also bagging bronzes.

Ten-years-and-under winners were Laura Hill and Jordan Workman (free) and Clara Parker (fly). Second places went to Heather Robbins (free and back), Dan Bridgman (back and fly) and Lewis Fidler (free) who took a third in the backstroke.

Free relay swimmers taking second were Workman, Arran Holmes, Fidler and Dan Bridgman with third places going to Holmes in the breast and fly.

Stephen Dear (free) and Charlotte Hooper (breast) took firsts for the nine-year-olds. Second places went to Hooper in the back and free relay swimmers Chris Sutton-Smith, Adam Watson, Stephen Dear and Braiden Hartles.
