Redditch impress in league opener

REDDITCH put on a show of strength in the first round of the Worcester Winter League by fielding two teams, with the A and B sides coming first and second.

The first team finished on 195 points and were 73 ahead of their own B team, who were followed by Droitwich, Pershore and Orion.

There were 16 wins for the first string, with 10 second places and three thirds.

Tyler Hartles (2), Dan Noke, Braiden Hartles (2), Adam Watson and Paul Wilkes (2), Rosie Potter (2), Alice Oliver, Sophie Lloyd Smith, Issy Griffiths (2), Poppy McGourlay and Caitlin Britt all tasted victory.

In the relays, the A side bagged four draws and four wins.

Meanwhile, the B team won one individual race, had four runners-up and took nine third-place finishes.

A fantastic swim by Megan Moss gained the B team’s win, with second places earned by Hollie Richmond, Joe Hamilton and Jack Harding.

The B team bagged one relay second place and two thirds.

The attention now focusses on the County Championships held over the next three weekends.
