REDDITCH BMX starlet Libby Smith has dedicated her Advertiser Sports Personality of the Year award to the memory of her grandfather.
The 11-year-old received the engraved silver salver for topping our online vote.
She presented it to grandmother Alice Connelly in memory of her much missed grandad Mick, who passed away this month.
Dad Scott Smith said: “Libby wanted to do something special to honour her grandad’s memory, so her nan will look after the silver salver.”
Meanwhile, the St Bede’s Catholic School pupil continues to try and raise money to make her dream of competing at the World Championships in New Zealand this summer a reality.
She received £100 backing from Redditch clothes store Suspect as well as some clothes from retailer.
Local band Sugar Mama are also playing a gig at the South Redditch Club to raise funds for Smith’s trip on Friday, March 8 (7pm start).
Tickets cost £10 which include a balti and can be obtained by calling father Scott Smith on 07737 780146.
