Knight: We need more goals from our hitmen

STUDLEY boss Lee Knight wants his hitmen to start re-producing their goal-scoring efforts from the training ground where it matters after they were dragged into a relegation battle.

Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to fellow Midland Alliance strugglers Highgate United has ensured they are in a battle to avoid the drop.

Knight though was frustrated as once again the Bees failed to find the back of the net.

Studley have scored just 28 times in 24 games, a record which is hampering their efforts to move into mid-table.

Knight said: “I have been pleased with the effort of the lads but my one bug bear is the fact we haven’t been scoring goals. I cannot understand it, the players spank goals in from left, right and centre in training but we can’t seem to do it in games.”

On Tuesday night, the Bees lost to local rivals Alvechurch 3-2 to further enhance their relegation worries.

They face another Worcestershire derby on Saturday at home to Stourport Swifts (3pm ko).

  • Defender Matty Collins has pledged to stay on at Studley after Causeway United put in a seven-day approach for him.
