Churchmen looking to bounce back from loss

MANAGER Dean Holtham admitted his Alvechurch side had a game to forget as they crashed to a hefty 3-0 home defeat to Causeway United.
Goals from Chris Field, Stuart How and Carl Gregg sealed the points for Causeway while the reverse sent Church tumbling towards the bottom half of the Midland Alliance.
Boss Holtham said: “It was just one of those days, it happens.
“We gave them all three goals, while creating numerous chances ourselves but having nothing to show for it. “We had 16 corners during the game, but couldn’t convert from any of them.”
The Churchmen were hoping to progress in the Birmingham Senior Cup this week when facing Evo-Stik North Premier Division title chasers Hednesford Town.
That is followed this Saturday by a visit from Rocester to Lye Meadow in a Midland Alliance match, the two teams being currently locked together in the league table.
The Alvechurch boss said: “We beat Rocester at their place 1-0 early in the season and we’ll be looking to repeat that result.”
Holtham has been boosted by the return of three players from long term injuries.
Striker Joe Wright has recovered from a groin problem which has kept him sidelined since September and is expected to feature this week along with Dean Morris who was on the bench against Causeway after being out for several months.
Another injury victim Daley Cameron is also being considered to face Rocester after being out of action since October.
