Churchmen are looking for travel comforts

ALVECHURCH boss Dean Holtham believes his side are a match for anyone on their travels in the Midland Alliance.

The Churchmen end the month with two away games at Coleshill Town on Saturday (3pm ko) and then Causeway United next Wednesday (7.45pm).

But Holtham is unfazed by playing away from Lye Meadow.

He said: “I think we can go anywhere in this league and win.

“Our record away from home is good apart from the defeat to Westfield when we lost 6-1 but, I think the players were distracted by the Wolves game.

“As long as they players are enjoying themselves that is the most important thing.”

Alvechurch’s game at Hednesford in the Birmingham Senior Cup last night was in jeopardy because of the snowy and wet weather.

Their home match against Boldmere St Michaels was called off because of the weather at the weekend.

Holtham said: “It’s frustrating to have so many games called off because the fixtures are piling up.

“Unfortunately, the pitch has not had a lot of money spent on it over the years and it shows.

“The club are planning to do work in the summer and it would be good if this problem could be ended.”

Striker Omari Sterling James is a doubt for Saturday after injuring his knee last week. Defender Sam Lee has a hamstring problem.

Alvechurch were also hoping to find out if striker Brendan Hicks would agree to join from Midland Combination Division One side Fairfield after submitting a seven-day approach last week.
