THE year eight team from Walkwood Middle School held off the challenge of St Bede’s to win the Schools Cup final.
The winners survived a St Bede’s fight back at the Valley Stadium to win 3-2.
A brace for Matt Smith put the eventual winners 2-0 ahead but Sam Bevan pulled one back.
Smith then set-up Jack Nicholls for Walkwood’s third goal.
Josh Rust ensured a nervous few minutes with a life-line for St Bede’s but Walkwood held onto regain the trophy.
Redditch United chairman Chris Swan presented the cup and medals, supplied by Bromsgrove and Redditch Trophies, to the winners.
This was the competition’s third year and it is product of partnership between the Valley Stadium club and the town’s schools.
