Alcester 3, Old Yardleians 59
ALCESTER slipped to a second successive heavy defeat, this time against the league leaders at a rain sodden King’s Coughton.
Club President John Adams chose this game for his annual lunch for vice presidents and other guests and while a great day was had by all, in terms of the rugby and the weather conditions this proved to be a poor choice.
The visitors from Shirley were dominant in every area of the game and came into this match in a rich vein of form, including a 100 point plus drubbing of Alcester’s fellow strugglers Warwickian.
The visitors were quick to rack up another big score, with the home side only having an early Simon Gardner penalty to show for their efforts.
Alcester remain second bottom in the Midlands Division Four West (South) following this defeat, with three important league fixtures remaining before Christmas including what look likes a ‘four pointer' against Warwickian.
They start the sequence on Saturday, December 8 at Harbury, entertain Warwickian a week later and welcome Coventrians to Kings Coughton on December 22.
