HEAD coach Chris Britt hailed Redditch Swimming Club after another impressive year in the Nuneaton and District Junior League which further cemented their place among the Midlands elite.

Redditch swam superbly in the three qualifying rounds, to make the Division One final for the second time in three years.

In the final, held in Wolverhampton, Redditch SC finished in a gallant fourth place on 165 points.

Britt said: “Qualifying for this final twice in the last three years is unprecedented for Redditch.

“Many of the clubs that we compete with in this league are from much larger towns or cities, so we are effectively punching above our weight when competing at this level.

“I must give credit to our fantastic swimmers, to our excellent coaching team and to the many other helpers.”

Alice Oliver, Rosie Potter, Sophie Lloyd-Smith, Issy Griffiths, Poppy McGourlay and Dan Noke all won their races in the final.

There were also second place finishes for Oliver Walker, Luke Warren, Hollie Richmond, Rosie Potter and Issy Griffiths.

Redditch’s 12 year old girls relay squad of Issy Griffiths, Poppy McGourlay, Megan Moss, Laura Cowley and Rachel Weller were almost invincible throughout the earlier rounds continued their run of successes in the 4x25-metre freestyle relay but they finally beaten in the medley relay.
