Howl triumphant on River Arrow

TEENAGER Sean Howl won Dark Lane AC’s M and B Cup clash on the River Arrow in Alcester.

Howl’s haul of 14lbs 2ozs was enough for him to emerge triumphant from the 24-strong group.

In second was Keith Jones with 11lbs 8ozs and in third place was Tony Lockett with 11lbs.

The section winners were Steve Ward (9lbs 9ozs), Barry Blewett (6lbs 14ozs) and Pete Quirke (3lbs 4ozs).

On Sunday it was Needles AC’s aggregate match at Great Alne and Glyn Blewett won with a chub and barbel catch weighing in at 8lbs 14ozs.

Close behind was in-form Paul Murray with 8lbs 12ozs, third-placed Ian Shaw (6lbs 7ozs) and Graham Penny (4lbs 11ozs) in fourth.

Graham Rowe won Redditch Federation of Anglers River Alne Championship.

Sixty-three anglers fished but Rowe, from Riverside AC, topped the lot with 8lbs 10ozs.

Runner-up was Alan Crowton with 7lbs 11ozs and equal third were T Brammer and J Rushworth with 6lbs 8ozs.
