Roy Clews, Redditch author, would like to thank the Advertiser for printing my letter about his books but please could you make it clear that he was suspected of being associated with the Welsh National Party, not the IRA.

He has never had anything to with the IRA and is totally against them.

I do apologise and the error arose because he has written several books about the Irish troubles but these are about the early Fenian Irish troubles.

He tells me he has written a book about the Free Wales Army, hence his suspected association.

Also, he was under sentence of death from the Spanish Foreign Legion for deserting with arms and ammunition, but thirteen years later he applied for an amnesty which was granted and he has since returned to Spain several times.
