Plan for planting

I HAVE just returned from a holiday abroad, and realised when I got back how lucky we are to have all the greenery we have in and around Redditch, and how good the pots look in Redditch town centre.

But could it be better? The answer is yes! For a very small outlay, which could be raised through donations, or coffee mornings, or whatever we normally do in a small way, enough could be raised to plant bulbs all over Redditch, in verges, open spaces, and anywhere else there is an open and boring space.

Who would plant the bulbs? The general public of course, families, schools, the retired, and any other groups with an interest in the public good.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to drive to the supermarket, or to and from work, through banks of daffodils in the springtime?

There would have to be liaison with the highways department, and the people who look after our infrastructure so well.

But I don’t think we need any politicians to get involved.

By the time they have recieved the kudos they seek, and formed the committes they want, I for one would probably be dead!

Anyone interested? email me on floraredditch@blueyonder.co.uk.
