REGARDING your Memory Lane photos printed on January 28, I lived in Crabbs Cross up until i was married in 1975, I recognised the bottom photo as being the now defunct Crabbs Cross carnival going towards the Star and Garter pub.
The procession turned around at the junction with The Slough and Evesham Road, known locally as “the ran tan”, the houses on the left are still there.
I believe it was also known as Crabbs Cross and Hunt End Carnival.
I can certainly remember Wilsons and Mr Henry Harvey’s fair behind the Star and Garter pub and the pig roast on the ground opposite.
I can’t remember the last year it took place, though perhaps some of your readers will know.
