THE Meningitis Trust is appealing to people in the West Midlands area to join the Walk in the Park event in West Midlands on September 7, 2008.

The West Midlands Walk in the Park will start and finish at Sandwell Park Farm within the Sandwell Valley Country Park, at 9.30am on September 7 2008.

Walk in the Park is an annual series of walks that takes place all over the UK, every September. From Belfast to Suffolk, this year people will be donning their boots for a stroll out in the park to raise funds for the Trust. Why not catch up with friends and family, compete with a pal or just take the dog for a walk - whatever you choose, it will be worth every step!

We are always looking for people to help us raise awareness of meningitis and vital funds for our work. If you're looking for an easy and effective challenge to raise awareness of meningitis then this is the one for you.

More than 20,000 people are helped by the Meningitis Trust each year through a range of professional support services including a freephone 24-hour helpline, counselling, home visits, one-to-one contact and community support.

Although the Trust is the UK's longest established meningitis charity it receives no government funding and relies on voluntary donations to continue its work.
