FURTHER to my letter in Yourview dated the 22nd ultimo and my request for information including the Lady who lived in the former Hill Street, Redditch, and who married into nobility, a person in the town centre gave me a name which I passed onto Jill Coombes from the Redditch Heritage Society and as a result of her searches produced the following: Edith Roma Batson married Greville Foley Lambert in Birmingham in 1932. In the 1936 Kelly’s Directory of Worcestershire Greville Foley Lambert was a chartered accountant in Unicorn Hill.

When his cousin died in 1938 Greville Foley Lambert became the 9th Baronet. The Lambert Baronetcy of London was a title in the Baronetage of Great Britain and was created on the 16th February 1711 for John Lambert a French born merchant who had settled in England. He was a director of the South Seas Company and created Baronet for supplying the treasury with loans. The 7th Baronet served as High Sheriff of Worcestershire in 1901 and assumed in 1905 by Royal license the surname of Grey for himself which the 8th Baronet also assumed. This may be of interest.
