As a grandparent of a pupil at this school I was concerned to learn that a planned production of the play “Peter Pan and Wendy” due to be performed in February was cancelled last week due, I am told, to the Performing Rights Society withdrawing the licence because of the same production being performed in Stratford in 11 months’ time.
Since pupils and staff at Bromsgrove South have been working and rehearsing this play for months, it seems extremely harsh and disappointing for all concerned for this to have happened so close to the actual production date. How does an action such as this help the promotion of plays and dramas within schools? I would ask who is to blame and how could this happen with a license being withdrawn retrospectively?
