LAST weekend was to be a community partnership march and bandstand events alongside Redditch first Music Festival but because of the awful weather on Saturday morning and the ongoing forecast, the march was cancelled.
Thanks to Ken Williams and the Kingfisher Centre, most of the acts performed brilliantly in the dry (although the sun then appeared for a while).
This is what partnership is all about. Thank you Ken for providing venues for such great free entertainment.
The music festival continued in various venues and Café Mambo did us proud with local talent throughout the weekend.
Thanks also to St Stephen’s Church for being a perfect venue for the John Bonham tribute concert starring Deborah Bonham, Johns Sister and Redditch’s own ‘Totem’ aka Sam and Clem Dallaway, who were excellent.
What a great musical weekend and almost all free. I am glad I live in such a talented town.
Pat Witherspoon Mayor of Redditch
